MISSIONS
FBC promotes work within our denomination through Canadian Baptist Ministries. The committee makes our members aware of special events happening within our Heartland Area churches.
In August, Bill Dyck is planning to visit Bolivia, Guatemala, El Salvador and The Dominican Republic. During his time there, he will seek to encourage partners in relation to Pastoring of Pastors, transformation in theological education, faith and work. Pray for new opportunities in these areas. Janice, Bills wife, has continued to use her musical abilities in teaching a few of her students at The Emmanuel Foundation in Bolivia.
We are thankful for the recovery of Bill and Janice's daughter Marian from long Covid. From struggling to open her eyes or lift a limb, she and Bill hiked together for three hours and over 15 km without experiencing any post exertion malaise. Her memory exercise, and testing showed she scored 100% at the highest level of difficulty. Praise God for her recovery.
We held an "Active in Missions" BBQ luncheon on August 20th following the morning service to raise fund for this project through CBM. Through the generositymof our members, we raised $1062.40 that morning. Thanks to all for your generous gifts. Many of our churches in the CBWC have done projects, either individually, or as a group to raise funds for those struggling with food issues in various countries where we have people actively working through our CBM. The goal was to raise $100,000 by the end of August.
Back in February, we heard the exciting news from Joseph and Karissa Klassen that their second child arrived - a daughter Thea, a little sister to Mark. They serve at Ness Lake Bible Camp near Prince George, BC. Congratulations to them. It was also so nice to see Karissa and the children home for a visit this summer.
Our Barn Project raises funds to assist families in third world countries through purchases of cows, goats, rabbits, etc. When disasters happen throughout the world, we make our members aware of projects that CBM works in conjunction with, along with other groups, and the federal government that provides matching grants through CIDA.
The Mosaic magazine is an excellent source of information for CBM work. Samaritan's Purse Shoe Box Christmas appeal is another project we support annually. We also continue to support Katepwa Lake Camp.
Thanks to everyone for continuing to pray for those we support both spiritually and financially.
